{"id":205952,"date":"2022-07-26T08:16:29","date_gmt":"2022-07-26T07:16:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=205952"},"modified":"2022-07-26T08:16:29","modified_gmt":"2022-07-26T07:16:29","slug":"peter-obi-is-not-popular-in-nasarawa-gov-sule-explains-why-2023-presidency-is-between-tinubu-and-atiku","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/07\/26\/peter-obi-is-not-popular-in-nasarawa-gov-sule-explains-why-2023-presidency-is-between-tinubu-and-atiku\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Peter Obi is not popular in Nasarawa&#8217; &#8211; Gov Sule explains why 2023 presidency is between Tinubu and Atiku"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Governor of Nasarawa state, Abdullahi Sule has disclosed that the 2023\u00a0presidential election is a two horse race between the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).<\/p>\n<p>This was made known by the governor while\u00a0dismissing chances of Labour Party (LP) Presidential candidate, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/07\/26\/why-i-didnt-tell-atiku-before-dumping-pdp-for-labour-party-peter-obi\/\">Peter Obi<\/a>, and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso in the election.<\/p>\n<p>Sule said they missed their chance to be strong contenders in the 2023 presidential election when they failed to come together.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking in an interview on Channels Television on Monday July 25, the Governor said\u00a0both parties are scantily popular and lack the national spread to win a presidential election.<\/p>\n<p>He said;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe is not even popular in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/10\/08\/apc-clears-nasarawa-states-lg-poll\/\">Nasarawa State<\/a>, so I don\u2019t know of the nation. At the national level, based on what we read, there are four political parties that are strong, definitely the APC because we are the ruling party, the PDP because they have an excellent candidate.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeter Obi was at one time a governor so he is there also alongside Kwankwaso\u2019s party.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you look at all these candidates, with all sense of humility, there are only two candidates at the top and they are Asiwaju and Atiku Abubakar.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Insisting that\u00a0he is not writing off Obi and Kwankwaso, Sule however maintained that\u00a0the two will find it very difficult\u00a0to break through.<\/p>\n<p>He added that\u00a0he is certain that the only way Peter Obi and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/07\/18\/bishop-idahosa-i-will-heal-nigerias-wounds-kwankwaso\/\">Rabiu Kwankwaso<\/a> could have staged a huge upset was if they had earlier merged their parties.<\/p>\n<p>Sule added;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGoing in they will do very well, I have no doubt in certain regions, but to have the national spread is going to be very difficult because it is people who move political parties, not just the name or the individual at the top.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Governor of Nasarawa state, Abdullahi Sule has disclosed that the 2023\u00a0presidential election is a two horse race between the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
