{"id":207538,"date":"2022-08-02T15:14:54","date_gmt":"2022-08-02T14:14:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=207538"},"modified":"2022-08-02T15:14:54","modified_gmt":"2022-08-02T14:14:54","slug":"innoson-replies-imo-over-n2-5bn-debt-claims","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/08\/02\/innoson-replies-imo-over-n2-5bn-debt-claims\/","title":{"rendered":"Innoson replies Imo over N2.5bn debt claims"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Company has stated that it did not breach any agreement in the vehicle deal with the Imo state government.<\/p>\n<p>This was contained in a statement released on Monday by\u00a0<span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Cornel Osigwe, head, corporate communications and affairs, Innoson Vehicles.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The company said the state government is yet to pay any amount since it delivered the vehicles in April 2021.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cOur attention has been drawn to a statement purportedly released by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Hon. Declan Emelumba on behalf of the Imo State Government,\u201d the statement reads.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cThe said statement was unscrupulously written to water down the facts and substance stated in our earlier statement. We do not wish to join words with Imo State Government as we now have it on good authority that it has engaged its e-dogs to discredit our brand in the media space.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cThe matter is now before the courts and we have always believed in the integrity of the judiciary to do the right thing when facts are stated.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">On setting up a maintenance and mobile workshop in Owerri, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/07\/30\/n2-5bn-debt-innoson-drags-imo-govt-to-court\/\">Innoson<\/a> said there was never such a contract in the deal.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cIt is not correct that Innoson Vehicles agreed with the Imo State Government that Innoson Vehicles will set up a Service Centre in Imo State,\u201d the statement added.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cFor the avoidance of doubt, Innoson Vehicles have various vehicle servicing partners in Imo State where Innoson Vehicles are maintained and serviced. More interestingly, Innoson Vehicles has its unique mobile workshop that provides maintenance and vehicle servicing to its clients.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cTo the best of our knowledge, Innoson Vehicles has always maintained and serviced the vehicles supplied to the Imo State Government up to the stage the company decided to disengage its maintenance and servicing as a result of non-payment of servicing parts used, which have risen to above N7m.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cThis particular debt, among others, is what <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/07\/31\/innoson-motors-debt-claims-mischievous-half-truths-cheap-blackmail-imo-govt\/\">Innoson Vehicles<\/a> has detailed to recover from the law court. Innoson Vehicles is not a charitable organisation but a business concern that needs money to stay in business.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cThe statement on servicing of debt in all its entirety is false. Note especially that the mode of transaction Innoson Vehicles did with Imo State Government is not only peculiar with the state, but Innoson Vehicles have also used a similar model to many of its clients, including state governments.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cWe have some clients who couldn\u2019t pay at once but entered a payment plan with the company even up to a 12-month plan. Since the vehicles were delivered in April 2021, the state government hasn\u2019t paid one naira.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Innoson Vehicles had\u00a0<\/span>filed<span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0a lawsuit against the Imo government over N2.54 billion debt claims.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">But the Imo government said the management of Innoson Vehicles breached the contractual agreement regarding the sale and maintenance of the vehicles.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Company has stated that it did not breach any agreement in the vehicle deal with the Imo state government.
