{"id":208967,"date":"2022-08-09T05:11:49","date_gmt":"2022-08-09T04:11:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=208967"},"modified":"2022-08-09T05:11:49","modified_gmt":"2022-08-09T04:11:49","slug":"fraudster-arrested-for-swindling-lagosians-with-fake-money-inside-boot","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/08\/09\/fraudster-arrested-for-swindling-lagosians-with-fake-money-inside-boot\/","title":{"rendered":"Fraudster arrested for swindling Lagosians with fake money inside boot"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A 34-year-old suspected fraudster, Emmanuel Rolland, has been arrested by the police for defrauding unsuspecting members of the public of their valuables around Ipakodo, in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State.<\/p>\n<p>The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, who disclosed this in a statement on Monday, said Rolland was arrested after his victim raised the alarm.<\/p>\n<p>He said the suspect confessed to committing the crime after he was arrested.<\/p>\n<p>Hundeyin said, \u201cOfficers of the Ipakodo division of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested one Emmanuel Rolland, 34, for duping unsuspecting passengers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe suspect was arrested around 11.20pm on Friday, July 29, 2022, along Ipakodo Road, after his victim raised the alarm.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cInvestigation revealed that the suspect, alongside his conspirators (still at large), while operating in a Volkswagen Jetta saloon car, with number plate, JJJ 27 DG, disguised as driver and passengers, picked unsuspecting passengers, and started discussions about some money purportedly kept in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/03\/23\/delta-police-rescue-victim-locked-up-in-car-boot\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">boot<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe suspect confessed to starting this crime in January, adding that he was arrested on his sixth outing.
