{"id":209022,"date":"2022-08-09T08:56:18","date_gmt":"2022-08-09T07:56:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=209022"},"modified":"2022-08-09T08:56:18","modified_gmt":"2022-08-09T07:56:18","slug":"customs-clears-air-on-auctioning-of-7000-cars","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/08\/09\/customs-clears-air-on-auctioning-of-7000-cars\/","title":{"rendered":"Customs clears air on auctioning of 7000 cars"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has denied rumours that the Service would soon hold a special auction featuring more than 7000 cars.<\/p>\n<p>This information was released by the Comptroller General of Customs in Abuja through the Public Relations Officer of Customs, Deputy Comptroller Timi Bomodi.<\/p>\n<p>He urged Nigerians to always refer to the electronic auction (e-auction) platform at https:\/\/app.trade.gov.ng\/eauction\/ for authentic information on auctioning.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, e-auction remains the only authentic means of auctioning goods to members of the public.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAuctions are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/02\/12\/dmo-well-auction-n150bn-fg-bonds-to-investors-on-feb-16\/\">periodic and advertised<\/a> in advance on our website to avail the public the opportunity of selecting and bidding for items of their choice.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt will be recalled that the service deployed the e-auction platform in July 2017 to improve efficiency in revenue generation to the federal government.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was also deployed to provide equal opportunities to all Nigerians in the seamless disposal of seized and condemned, and overtime and abandoned cargoes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSince its implementation, the e-auction has lived up to expectations by guaranteeing transparency and integrity in the auctioning process,\u201d Bomodi said.<\/p>\n<p>The spokesperson said that the requirements to take part in the e-auction bidding process by interested members of the public were clear.<\/p>\n<p>He said that applicants must <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/03\/08\/customs-suspends-vin-valuation-system\/\">process valid Tax Identification Number<\/a> (TIN), issued by Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), with an active e-mail account.<\/p>\n<p>Bomodi added that the conditions and terms of auction must be carefully considered by an interested person before acceptance.<\/p>\n<p>Bomodi further said an applicant must have an authentic and nationally accepted means of identification.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that those means of identification include international passport, driver\u2019s license, national identity card or voter card.<\/p>\n<p>Bomodi referred the public to the service\u2019s e-auction portal at https:\/\/app.trade.gov.ng\/eauction\/ for further guidelines.<\/p>\n<p>Bomodi used the opportunity to call on owners of uncleared vehicles at the various ports to avail themselves of the VIN-Valuation protocols to clear them.<\/p>\n<p>He said the clearance procedure had been simplified, automated and made more user-friendly.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has denied rumours that the Service would soon hold a special auction featuring more than 7000 cars.
