{"id":210816,"date":"2022-08-17T21:30:22","date_gmt":"2022-08-17T20:30:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=210816"},"modified":"2022-08-17T21:32:23","modified_gmt":"2022-08-17T20:32:23","slug":"why-nnpp-couldnt-meet-demand-by-shekaraus-camp-kwankwaso","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/08\/17\/why-nnpp-couldnt-meet-demand-by-shekaraus-camp-kwankwaso\/","title":{"rendered":"Why NNPP couldn\u2019t meet demand by Shekarau\u2019s camp \u2013 Kwankwaso"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Presidential candidate of the New Nigerian People\u2019s Party (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has opened up on the alleged growing discontent in the party and imminent defection of former Kano State governor, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/08\/14\/2023-how-i-became-kwankwasos-running-mate-idahosa\/\">Kwankwaso<\/a> said there was no dispute between him and Shekarau, the Kano Central Senatorial candidate of the party.<\/p>\n<p>Kwankwaso, in an interview with BBC Hausa said the rumour making the rounds that both of them are not in good terms is not true, adding that there is nothing like that in the party.<\/p>\n<p>He also disclosed that all the demands made by Shekarau\u2019s camp were met except one. <\/p>\n<p>He was reacting to the news that the two-term governor of the state (Shekarau) may defect to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over an alleged failure to fulfill the terms of agreement they reached prior to Shekarau\u2019s defection to the NNPP.<\/p>\n<p>Kwankwaso said, \u201cThere is no agreement that was not fulfilled other than that of contestants. We have tried our best to honour the agreement but time couldn\u2019t permit us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to him, most of the people brought by Shekarau\u2019s side to get tickets for elective positions joined the NNPP at a time when INEC would not accept their candidacy.<\/p>\n<p>However, he said that if the party wins the election and forms a government, Shekarau\u2019s associates would get more prestigious positions.<\/p>\n<p>Kwankwaso added that this would not cause any problem in the NNPP, confirming that there is no problem between him and Shekarau.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Presidential candidate of the New Nigerian People\u2019s Party (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has opened up on the alleged growing discontent in the party and imminent defection of former Kano State governor, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau.
