{"id":211311,"date":"2022-08-20T11:23:32","date_gmt":"2022-08-20T10:23:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=211311"},"modified":"2022-08-20T11:23:32","modified_gmt":"2022-08-20T10:23:32","slug":"nafdac-issues-alert-on-products-from-us-mars-wrigley","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/08\/20\/nafdac-issues-alert-on-products-from-us-mars-wrigley\/","title":{"rendered":"NAFDAC issues alert on products from US Mars Wrigley"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has warned about certain products made in the United States.<\/p>\n<p>The announcement came after a company, Mars Wrigley Confectionery US, LLC, recalled some candies.<\/p>\n<p>Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, Director-General of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/03\/15\/nafdac-investigates-cause-of-strange-disease-among-kano-residents\/\">NAFDAC<\/a>, signed the notification, bearing No.034\/2022, on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Skittles, Starburst, and Lifesavers gummy bear varieties had all been subject to a voluntary recall, according to Mars Wrigley.<\/p>\n<p>Adeyeye said the decision was due to the potential presence of thin metal strands embedded in a number of the sweets.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/03\/30\/nigerian-drugs-can-now-be-sold-at-international-market-nafdac-dg-adeyeye\/\">NAFDAC<\/a> urged distributors and citizens in possession of the products to stop the sale and consumption of the products and take them to its nearest office.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cConsumers are encouraged to report complaints and any allergic reactions\u201d, the agency advised.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey are also encouraged to report any adverse effect to NAFDAC PRASCORE on (20543 toll-free from all networks), or via pharmacovigilance@nafdac.gov.ng.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Members of the public can make their reports via the NAFDAC ADR e-Reporting platform available at www.nafdac.gov.ng.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has warned about certain products made in the United States.
