Reverend Chris Okotie, the Founder of Household of God Church has reaffirmed the need for Nigeria to adopt an interim government after the tenure of the President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.<\/p>\n

According to him, an interim government is a necessity to guarantee a stable polity in Nigeria.<\/p>\n

This was contained in a statement released on Wednesday by his Media Adviser, Ladi Ayodeji.<\/p>\n

The cleric noted that without fixing some loopholes, conducting elections<\/a> and transitioning to another government won\u2019t fix the country\u2019s existential challenges.<\/p>\n

\u201cA regime change in 2023 will lead the country back to the status quo without restructuring,\u201d the statement quoted Okotie as saying.<\/p>\n

He argued that the presidential system of government has failed the nation and should be jettisoned.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am offering Aboriginal Democracy as a viable alternative to the present system. It is the only mechanical instrumentality available for the crystallization of the Nigerian dream.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Aboriginal Democracy will eliminate the legislature and end the perpetual conflict between the centrifugal and centripetal forces, which has created the regional xenophobia engendered by the political class,\u201d Okotie said.<\/p>\n

According to him, any alternative to this proposition for restructuring<\/a> before the next general election is an implosion.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe present constitution is more unitary than federal. We need to change the constitution, we need to restructure the country,\u201d the cleric added.<\/p>\n

On the feasibility of an interim government in view of the 2023 general election<\/a>, Okotie explained that the stakeholders could make it happen if they are patriotic.<\/p>\n

The cleric, however, urged the frontline presidential candidates to buy his argument for a hiatus to first create a new constitution before the 2023 general election.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe constitution is made for the people, and not the people for the constitution,\u201d, Okotie said.<\/p>\n
