{"id":212617,"date":"2022-08-25T13:42:16","date_gmt":"2022-08-25T12:42:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=212617"},"modified":"2022-08-25T13:42:16","modified_gmt":"2022-08-25T12:42:16","slug":"efcc-hands-over-fake-army-generals-forfeited-property-to-victim-in-lagos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/08\/25\/efcc-hands-over-fake-army-generals-forfeited-property-to-victim-in-lagos\/","title":{"rendered":"EFCC hands over fake army general\u2019s forfeited property to victim in Lagos"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has given one Bamidele Safiriyu Olusegun ownership of a property at 1A, Joke Ayo Street, Riverside Estate, Alagbado, Lagos, as well as a Range Rover Sport Utility Vehicle, SUV, a black BMW, a black Toyota Land Cruiser, and a white Toyota Hilux that were all taken from a fake army general who had been found guilty, Bolarinwa Abiodun.<\/p>\n<p>The Lagos Zonal Command of the anti-graft agency disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2022\/08\/ify_davies\/2022\/08\/25\/FB_IMG_1661427857351.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-212620\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-212620\" src=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2022\/08\/ify_davies\/2022\/08\/25\/FB_IMG_1661427857351.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"720\" height=\"540\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2022\/08\/ify_davies\/2022\/08\/25\/FB_IMG_1661427857351.jpg 720w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2022\/08\/ify_davies\/2022\/08\/25\/FB_IMG_1661427857351-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It said Abiodun had posed as an Army General to defraud Olusegun of the sum of N266,500,000.<\/p>\n<p>It stated: \u201cUpon his conviction on July 8, 2022, the trial judge, Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos, had sentenced Abiodun to seven years imprisonment and also ordered him to forfeit all the proceeds of the crime.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Lagos Zonal Commander of EFCC, Ahmed Ghali, while handing over the vehicles on Tuesday at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/08\/09\/two-nigerian-fraudsters-forfeit-over-n200m-luxury-cars-and-properties-valued-at-n260m-to-fg\/\">EFCC\u2019s Lagos Command<\/a>, described the development as a milestone in the fight against corruption.<\/p>\n<p>He appealed to the people to always provide information to the EFCC to assist it in fighting corruption.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFinally, justice has been served. Whoever commits a crime will not get away with it. Sooner or later, the arm of the law will always catch up with you. We take <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/09\/01\/court-orders-interim-forfeiture-of-firms-n5-3b\/\">pleasure<\/a> in seeing fraudulent people brought to justice,\u201d Ghali
