{"id":213023,"date":"2022-08-27T21:08:24","date_gmt":"2022-08-27T20:08:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=213023"},"modified":"2022-08-27T21:08:24","modified_gmt":"2022-08-27T20:08:24","slug":"abuja-disco-disconnects-govt-house-others-over-debt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/08\/27\/abuja-disco-disconnects-govt-house-others-over-debt\/","title":{"rendered":"Abuja DisCo disconnects govt house, others over debt"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Abuja Electricity Distribution Company has disconnected the Niger State government house and other MDAs over an debt of over N1.3billion.<\/p>\n<p>This was revealed by the AEDC Public Relations Officer in the state, Adamu Dantani, in Minna who said the decision to disconnect the Government House, general hospital and other MDAs is to recover all the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/08\/26\/nbc-suspends-shutdown-of-debtor-broadcast-stations\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">outstanding debts<\/a> running into several billions of naira being owed the company by the government.<\/p>\n<p>Dantani said the disconnection would have been carried out months ago but was shelved as a result of the intervention of the House of Assembly.<\/p>\n<p>He added that four months after the intervention between the company and the executive arm of the government the agreement reached has been breached by the government.<\/p>\n<p>He added that in the agreement reached, the state government was to settle at least about 80 per cent of the debt which they failed to do.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrom the day of the agreement till date, there is no commitment from the state government,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Dantani added, \u201cWe took the action after being pushed to the wall by the state government for not keeping its words after the intervention of the state Assembly four months ago.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe don\u2019t have any option than to disconnect their services and concentrate on our teaming loyal consumers in and outside the metropolis.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Other public institutions affected by the disconnection include the state water board, schools, all General hospitals, the office of the Secretary to the State Government, Ahmed Ibrahim Matane, and that of the Head of Service, among others.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Abuja Electricity Distribution Company has disconnected the Niger State government house and other MDAs over an debt of over N1.3billion.
