Wife of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Senator Oluremi Tinubu\u00a0admitted on Thursday that the absence of APC National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, was sorely felt by a larger majority of lawmakers in the Senate.<\/p>\n

Adamu submitted his resignation letter to the leadership of the Senate after he emerged the National Chairman of the ruling party at the March 26 Convention.<\/p>\n

His resignation letter, which took effect from April 1, was read by the Senate President, Dr Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan, during a plenary.<\/p>\n

But four months after he left, his ex-colleague and former First Lady of Lagos, disclosed that his active participation in legislative activities<\/a> were missed.<\/p>\n

Oluremi, who led a delegation of women leaders on \u2018solidarity\u2019 visitation to see Adamu and the National Working Committee ahead of September 28 political campaign, expressed confidence that her husband would consolidate on the gains of the President Muhammadu Buhari once elected.<\/p>\n

She said, \u201cWe are here today to the business of the day and to felicitate with the chairman because I\u2019ve missed him so much in the Senate<\/a>. So it\u2019s a thing of joy that we are here on the solidarity visit and courtesy visit to also intimate you on our activities.<\/p>\n

\u201cDespite knowing that the timetable is not yet out, it\u2019s best for me to come here and also tell you that we\u2019ve been busy quietly, but we want to intimate you on the activities. We are yet to get our organogram fine-tuned. What the incoming administration needs to do is to consolidate all the works that our President is doing and I can tell you that I\u2019m not new in government.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve been there working. I believe that with what he has done so far, the next administration will be able to consolidate on that. But we are here to tell you that we Nigeria women<\/a> are ready. I want to reassure the chairman that we are all ready to work and then whenever you need us, we are just a call away. We are ready to work and ensure victory for our party come 2023.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Tinubu-Shettima Presidential Women Council, that is what we are called. We are working but we want to also commend you for the great leadership you\u2019ve given us and also bringing respectability to our great party.\u201d<\/p>\n

Reacting to the glowing tributes, Adamu thanked the Lagos senator, saying he was satisfied knowing that she and other women leaders were willing to stand by the party\u2019s presidential candidate and running mate for the forthcoming elections.<\/p>\n

The APC national chairman further stated that he was a firm believer in the political capacity and nitty-gritty of the APC women campaign council.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe cannot thank you enough for finding time this early stage to come and meet with us in the APC that we call Buhari House. I want to assure you that what we can do, by way of planning, is to ensure maximum participation in the efforts we will be making as the NWC of the party, to stand with you.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have promised to stand shoulder to shoulder with both the presidential candidate and his running mate. So, to that extent, you can be rest assured that we will be together in this race. Whatever you need us to do, we will willingly do it to ensure success of this effort.<\/p>\n

\u201cYour own journey will be a bit more difficult because of customary mannerisms. Some of the best brains are among you, women. Some of the hardest workers are among you, women. But because of who we are, we were not able to see the best of women yet.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs far as the leadership of the APC is concerned, President Buhari is very much on the ticket. We will not see his picture, but his spirit will drive this efforts.
