Ogbuchukwu Lotanna, has resigned his position as a priest of the church to float a movement in support of polygamy.<\/p>\n<p>Lotanna, in the resignation, stated that he received a divine mandate to float a movement, aimed at encouraging polygamy, with a vision to reducing the rate of sexual sins in society.<\/p>\n<p>He pointed out that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/05\/10\/only-death-will-stop-me-from-having-more-wives-kids-zimbabwean-man-with-151-children-16-wives-reveals\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">polygamy<\/a> is not a sin, contrary to what is generally being preached. He argued that what God hates is divorce of any type, and sleeping with another man\u2019s wife.<\/p>\n<p>He insisted that God desired men to even marry more than one wife, instead of going for someone\u2019s wife or ladies they were not married to.<\/p>\n<p>Lotana, also a lawyer, said the church had hidden this information from members for a long time and that it was high time people were told the truth.<\/p>\n<p>He encouraged men to marry their \u2018side chicks\u2019 to escape hell fire, maintaining that the only thing wrong with polygamy was to stay in a church that was against the practice \u201cbecause two cannot work unless they agree.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He also disclosed that his new movement would be called \u201cGideonites\u201d, while the place of worship would be called \u201cGideonites\u2019 Temple\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>He said, \u201cIt is obvious that the church, especially the Anglican Church, has been teaching against the concept of polygamy, but the Lord has opened my eyes to the reality that polygamy is not a sin.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>His colleagues expressed shock at Lotanna\u2019s action, saying that they never expected such.<\/p>\n<p>Lotanna, hails from Mbanagu Otolo Nnewi, was ordained an Anglican priest on December 22, 2019, at Cathedral Church of St. Mary\u2019s Uruagu, Nnewi, is married to Chinyere Abigail, who hails from Umuogbu village Achara in Awka North of Anambra State.<\/p>\n<p>The Anglican Diocese of Nnewi is yet to ret to the development, as the diocese is busy with the activities of its 2022 synod.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An Anglican priest of the Nnewi Diocese in Anambra State, Rev.
