{"id":215808,"date":"2022-09-11T13:28:07","date_gmt":"2022-09-11T12:28:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=215808"},"modified":"2022-09-11T13:28:07","modified_gmt":"2022-09-11T12:28:07","slug":"police-declare-farmkonnect-ceo-oluwole-azeez-wanted-for-alleged-n50m-fraud","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/09\/11\/police-declare-farmkonnect-ceo-oluwole-azeez-wanted-for-alleged-n50m-fraud\/","title":{"rendered":"Police declare FarmKonnect CEO Oluwole Azeez wanted for alleged N50m fraud"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Nigeria Police Force has declared a businessman, Azeez Oluwole Saheed, wanted for alleged N50 million investment fraud.<\/p>\n<p>The founder of Agribusiness Nigeria Limited is expected to appear before the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Ikoyi, Lagos.<\/p>\n<p>A special police gazette bulletin disclosed that a warrant of arrest\/bench warrant was issued by the Magistrate Court of Lagos.<\/p>\n<p>Azeez is wanted for alleged criminal conspiracy, obtaining money by false pretence, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/09\/11\/nigerian-man-declared-wanted-for-defrauding-new-york-govt-30-million\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fraud<\/a> and stealing with social media space and medium advertising investment.<\/p>\n<p>The police acted on a complaint of \u201cwell-orchestrated theft\u201d by Chive GPS on behalf of its clients; it demanded that the 49-year-old be placed on a red notice.<\/p>\n<p>It said after an advertisement in 2019, many subscribers separately transferred over N50 million into the corporate accounts of Farmkonnect.<\/p>\n<p>Noting that the funds were expected to yield interests, the lawyers said Azeez later stopped any form of communication with investors and had been unreachable.<\/p>\n<p>The petition said the action may have been a premeditated fraud disguised as a legal investment scheme owing to false representations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe believe they may have also swindled thousands of persons of billions of Naira and diverted the funds into real estate and other personal endeavours\u201d, it reads.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2022\/09\/adejayan_gbenga\/2022\/09\/11\/images-15-2022-09-11T132051.069.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"640\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-215818\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2022\/09\/adejayan_gbenga\/2022\/09\/11\/images-15-2022-09-11T132051.069.jpeg 480w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2022\/09\/adejayan_gbenga\/2022\/09\/11\/images-15-2022-09-11T132051.069-225x300.jpeg 225w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The investors explained that they were drawn to the scheme because of the endorsement it received from respected personalities.<\/p>\n<p>Reacting, Azeez\u2019s lawyer, Ajibola Lawal, stated that his client is not on the run as alleged by a police report.<\/p>\n<p>Lawal insists the Agritech company remains still viable but \u201cwent into some business crises\u201d, though making efforts to \u201crevive and stabilize\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAzeez is taking assiduous steps to see to the end of the crisis and never absconded..no need for investors to panic.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo far over 60% of the investors have agreed to the repayment agreement which was issued by the firm\u201d, his statement reads.<\/p>\n<p>Azeez\u2019s profile says he \u201ctrained as a chemist\u201d and \u201cbuilt a career as a versatile military officer of the Nigerian Navy and a maritime security specialist.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It recalled how he made his first agric investment in 2001 and established FarmKonnect in 2016 \u201cwith a meagre seed investment of 30,000 Naira ($200)\u201d.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Nigeria Police Force has declared a businessman, Azeez Oluwole Saheed, wanted for alleged N50 million investment fraud.
