{"id":216331,"date":"2022-09-14T06:38:37","date_gmt":"2022-09-14T05:38:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=216331"},"modified":"2022-09-14T06:38:37","modified_gmt":"2022-09-14T05:38:37","slug":"angola-libya-overtake-nigeria-in-crude-production-opec","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/09\/14\/angola-libya-overtake-nigeria-in-crude-production-opec\/","title":{"rendered":"Angola, Libya overtake Nigeria in crude production \u2013 OPEC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) has disclosed that\u00a0Nigeria\u2019s oil production plunged to 972,000 barrels per day in August 2022, as Angola and Libya overtook Nigeria by producing higher volumes of crude during the review month.<\/p>\n<p>This was disclosed by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/08\/12\/nigeria-loses-n101bn-worth-of-oil-opec\/\">OPEC<\/a> in its\u00a0September 2022 report, confirming the figures released recently by the Nigeria Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission.<\/p>\n<p>Recall that\u00a0last week that Nigeria\u2019s crude oil production slumped below one million barrels per day in August 2022, the lowest ever in several years.<\/p>\n<p>The report revealed that oil production in Nigeria dropped in August 2022, crashing below one million barrels per day to 972,394 bpd, the lowest ever recorded in years.<\/p>\n<p>It stated that figures from the NUPRC indicated that the country\u2019s oil production dropped from 1,083,899 bpd in July to 972,394 bpd in August.<\/p>\n<p>Confirming this in its September 2022 oil sector report released on Tuesday, OPEC stated that the drop in Nigeria\u2019s oil production made Angola and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/08\/17\/2044-stranded-nigerians-repatriated-from-libya-in-8-months\/\">Libya<\/a> to overtake Nigeria in oil output.<\/p>\n<p>The report stated that Angola was Africa\u2019s highest crude oil producer for the month under review with an average production of 1.187mb\/d.<\/p>\n<p>It said Libya\u2019s crude oil production averaged also 1.123mb\/d for the month of August.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAccording to secondary sources, total OPEC-13 crude oil production averaged 29.65 mb\/d in August, higher by 618,000 month-on-month,\u201d it stated.<\/p>\n<p>The report added, \u201cCrude oil output increased mainly in Libya and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/07\/27\/nigerian-pilgrim-dies-in-saudi-arabia-welfare-board\/\">Saudi Arabia<\/a>, while production in Nigeria declined.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) has disclosed that\u00a0Nigeria\u2019s oil production plunged to 972,000 barrels per day in August 2022, as Angola and Libya overtook Nigeria by producing higher volumes of crude during the review month.
