Top Zambian club Zanaco FC have appointed former Nigeria international Emmanuel Amuneke as their new head coach, according to Zambian media outfit Lusaka Times.<\/p>\n

It is reported that Amuneke<\/a> will travel to Lusaka, the capital of Zambia, in the next few days to resume his new role.<\/p>\n

Amuneke, a former Super Eagles assistant coach, helped Tanzania qualify for the 2019 AFCON, there first since the 1980 edition.<\/p>\n

He led the Golden Eaglets to the 2015 U-17 FIFA World Cup title in Chile.<\/p>\n

Zanaco last won the MTN\/FAZ Super League Division in 2016 and came second in 2021.<\/p>\n

Their last league game saw them lose 1-0 at home on Sunday against Forest Rangers.<\/p>\n

Zanaco was formed in 1978 as a social team by management trainees of Zambia National Commercial Bank.<\/p>\n

Starting from the 1980s, Zanaco started growing steadily from a mere social club to becoming one of the most successful and decorated club in Zambian football history.<\/p>\n

Over the years the Sunset Stadium-based team has won seven Super League trophies, four Charity Shields, one Coca-Cola Cup, one Mosi Cup and three BP Cups.<\/p>\n

Zanaco are the only team outside of Zambia’s Copperbelt Province to have not only won but also defended the Super League Trophy.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
