The authorities of Federal Polytechnic, Ede, Osun State on Thursday lifted the ban on movement of students’ vehicles, commercial vehicles and motorcycles on its campuses.<\/p>\n

The development is coming hours after students of the school protested and locked the school gates.<\/p>\n

Following the protest, the management have bowed to the pressure surrounding the ban, a statement by the Registrar of the institution, I.T Agboola announced the reversal in a memo dated 15th September.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is to explain that the ban on students\u2019 vehicles and motorcycles entering the campuses of the polytechnic is completely lifted,\u201d the memo stated.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn view of the above, students vehicles and motorcycles are now allowed into the campuses, however, they should maintain law and order.\u201d<\/p>\n

WITHIN NIGERIA had earlier reported how the students shut the school gate to protest against the hardship inflicted on them by the ban<\/a>.<\/p>\n

They also demanded the immediate suspension of the school\u2019s Chief Security Officer, alleging that he has \u201cno leadership quality to head the polytechnic security unit.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Students also demanded 24\/7 illumination on campuses that was paid outrageously for, adequate maintenance of school hostels and replacement of faulty appliances.<\/p>\n

While the students Union equally want the polytechnic management to involve the students in the decision on policies and development of the institution.<\/p>\n

Though after the reversal of the ban on students’ vehicles and commercial motorcycles, it is still unclear if other 4 demands were also met by the management of the school.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
