{"id":217954,"date":"2022-09-22T17:16:49","date_gmt":"2022-09-22T16:16:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=217954"},"modified":"2022-09-22T17:16:49","modified_gmt":"2022-09-22T16:16:49","slug":"asuu-to-appeal-industrial-court-order-on-friday-%e2%80%95-falana","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/09\/22\/asuu-to-appeal-industrial-court-order-on-friday-%e2%80%95-falana\/","title":{"rendered":"ASUU to appeal Industrial Court Order on Friday \u2015 Falana"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) will, on Friday, file a notice of Appeal at the Appellate Court in Abuja to grant interlocutory injunction and set aside the judgment of the National Industrial Court that ordered it to call off its ongoing strike and members to go back to work.<\/p>\n<p>The counsel to ASUU and human rights activist, Mr Femi Falana, confirmed this on Thursday in an interview.<\/p>\n<p>He said: \u201cWe have just sent somebody to the court to collect the certified report of the judgment and get it ready for us to enable us to file our application for interlocutory order of the judgment tomorrow (Friday).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEven though we have 14 days window to do that, we will file our appeal paper first thing tomorrow morning and that is all I can say for now on the matter.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Recalls that the Federal Government dragged <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/09\/22\/asuu-strike-dont-use-court-to-deceive-us-prof-mustapha-tells-fg\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ASUU<\/a> to the National Industrial Court and asked it to compel the union to call off its seven months old strike that has paralysed the academic activities in the nation\u2019s public universities.<\/p>\n<p>The court had, however, granted the prayer on Wednesday by ordering the lecturers to go back to work but ASUU did not satisfy with court\u2019s position, hence the proposed appeal.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) will, on Friday, file a notice of Appeal at the Appellate Court in Abuja to grant interlocutory injunction and set aside the judgment of the National Industrial Court that ordered it to call off its ongoing strike and members to go back to work.
