{"id":218324,"date":"2022-09-24T19:29:23","date_gmt":"2022-09-24T18:29:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=218324"},"modified":"2022-09-24T19:29:23","modified_gmt":"2022-09-24T18:29:23","slug":"anambra-govt-intervenes-on-failed-portions-of-enugu-onitsha-road","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/09\/24\/anambra-govt-intervenes-on-failed-portions-of-enugu-onitsha-road\/","title":{"rendered":"Anambra govt intervenes on failed portions of Enugu-Onitsha road"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Intervention work on the failed portions of the old Enugu-Onitsha Expressway has began.<\/p>\n<p>The intervention was commenced by the Anambra State government on the failed spot, which has constituted a nightmare for travelers, is located at Amansea, Awka North Local Government Area.<\/p>\n<p>Severally, commuters have been trapped on the spot, while many have had cause to spend the night in the area, especially during festive seasons.<\/p>\n<p>The state government commenced work on the area at the weekend, which spans about 350 meters of the road, at different locations along the same stretch of road.<\/p>\n<p>DAILY POST reports that the job commenced with the desilting of drainages on both sides of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/06\/18\/fg-to-begin-rehabilitation-on-part-of-enugu-onitsha-expressway\/\">road<\/a>, while heavy stones are currently being used to fill the failed portions.<\/p>\n<p>An official of the Anambra Road Maintenance Agency, the agency responsible for the rehabilitation, Engineer Azuka Egwuatu, said Governor Chukwuma Soludo had directed that the road be made motorable within the shortest possible time to alleviate the suffering of the road users.<\/p>\n<p>Egwuatu said: \u201cWe\u2019ll complete the work within four days since we have placed slumps and presently on a stone base, after which we will prime and asphalt.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have intervened on Amansea road, Ekwulobia roundabout, St Joseph Cathedral Ekwulobia axis, Limca road by peoples club, Awka road in Onitsha, Agulu Lake axis to mention a few.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCurrently, we\u2019re moving in to start work on Nkpor-Umuoji road, all courtesy of Governor Soludo.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Intervention work on the failed portions of the old Enugu-Onitsha Expressway has began.
