Ifeanyi Ejiofor, lawyer to the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, has accused operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) of giving the IPOB leader only two out of seven bottles of his prescribed medications.<\/p>\n

Ejiofor asked the DSS to allow family members to donate money to enable the IPOB leader receive urgent medical care.<\/p>\n

The pro-Biafran group’s counsel made the call after returning from a routine court-ordered visit to the DSS headquarters in Abuja, where Kanu had been detained in solitary confinement for more than 14 months.<\/p>\n

WITHIN NIGERIA had reported that Ejiofor said that Kanu is suffering from gastrointestinal illness<\/a>, which necessitates and requires that he sees his doctor often for proper medication as ordered by the court of law.<\/p>\n

In a statement on Monday, Ejiofor said, \u201cThe DSS in a feeble attempt at improvisation, in order to cure a serious health condition such as the one confronting Kanu, only succeeded in procuring two doses, out of the full dosage of seven bottles of the prescribed medications\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe two doses were exhausted on Saturday, 24th September 2022. The effect of the prevailing situation is that the limited dosage of the prescription Onyendu was provided with; is just a drop in the ocean, which did not achieve the desired result.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ejiofor claimed there was no longer any question that the DSS had exhausted all therapeutic alternatives for treating Kanu’s severe medical condition.<\/p>\n

\u201cHence, our passionate plea is for the unconditional release of Onyendu to enable us to seek proper medical attention.<\/p>\n

\u201cOtherwise, we should be allowed to provide the required funding to the DSS to enable them to purchase the complete prescribed medications for Onyendu, or we could procure them ourselves in order to ensure that Onyendu leaves the DSS facility in good health condition upon regaining his freedom soon\u201d Ejiofor added.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the lawyer hinted that Kanu would not be appearing in Court on the 4th of October, 2022. \u201cUmu Chineke will be informed vide this platform or other approved channels of communication, whenever Onyendu will appear in Court.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cKindly ignore the false rumour currently in circulation\u201d Ejiofor advised. More so, the IPOB counsel disclosed that Kanu was profoundly elated by the outpouring of prayers, good wishes and solidarity on his special day on earth.<\/p>\n
