{"id":219130,"date":"2022-09-29T14:40:20","date_gmt":"2022-09-29T13:40:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=219130"},"modified":"2022-09-29T14:40:20","modified_gmt":"2022-09-29T13:40:20","slug":"i-wont-appeal-court-judgement-on-yobe-north-seat-lawan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/09\/29\/i-wont-appeal-court-judgement-on-yobe-north-seat-lawan\/","title":{"rendered":"I won\u2019t appeal court judgement on Yobe North seat  \u2013 Lawan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, has said that he will not appeal the court judgment with respect to the forthcoming Yobe North senatorial district election.<\/p>\n<p>Lawan that he had accepted the judgment of the court which disqualified his candidature and participation in the election.<\/p>\n<p>He made this known on Thursday in a statement while reacting to the judgement made by the Federal High Court, Damaturu, in Yobe State, on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>WITHIN NIGERIA had reported that Justice Fadima Aminu at a Damaturu Federal High Court on Wednesday ordered the All Progressives Congress to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/09\/28\/breaking-court-sacks-ahmed-lawan-as-apc-senatorial-candidate\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">forward the name of Machina<\/a> to the Independent National Electoral Commission as the authentic winner of the primary, which was held on the 28\/05\/2022.<\/p>\n<p>He said, \u201cYesterday, Wednesday, September 28, 2022, the Federal High Court in Damaturu delivered judgment on the rightful candidate for Yobe North Senatorial District for the 2023 National Assembly elections.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe said judgement disqualifies my candidature and therefore my participation in the elections.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter due consultations with my political associates, supporters and well-wishers, I have decided not to appeal against the judgement. I accept the judgement.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The lawmaker added, \u201cI deem it appropriate to thank His Excellency, Senator Ibrahim Gaidam for the leadership role in the APC political family in Yobe State. I also thank His Excellency, Governor Mai Mala Buni for the support and brotherhood.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo my constituents, I thank you all for your unflinching support, loyalty and unreserved commitment to the course of building our people and Yobe North Senatorial District and indeed Yobe State.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to assure you that I will continue to serve you in my personal and any other capacity at all times.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe journeyed together for a long time, and this journey will remain a life long journey. It has been a wonderful relationship and it can only get stronger. I am indebted to you all.
