{"id":219772,"date":"2022-10-02T22:31:45","date_gmt":"2022-10-02T21:31:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=219772"},"modified":"2022-10-02T22:31:45","modified_gmt":"2022-10-02T21:31:45","slug":"apc-vows-to-appeal-judgement-as-court-sacks-oyetola-deputy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/10\/02\/apc-vows-to-appeal-judgement-as-court-sacks-oyetola-deputy\/","title":{"rendered":"APC vows to appeal judgement as court sacks Oyetola, deputy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Osun State chapter, Prince Gboyega Famodun, has enjoined all the members of the party and supporters to put their minds at rest over the Federal High Court, Abuja, ruling over the nomination of Governor Gboyega Oyetola as the candidate of the party in the July 16, 2022 governorship election.<\/p>\n<p>Oyetola and Benedict Alabi&#8217;s nominations were thrown out by the federal High Court on the grounds that Governor Mai Buni, who submitted their names to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), had broken Nigerian law.<\/p>\n<p>According to the court, Buni broke both Section 82(3) of the Electoral Act 2022 and Section 183 of the Federal Republic of Nigeria&#8217;s constitution.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement responding to the ruling, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/01\/11\/osun-2022-gov-oyetola-picks-nomination-form-for-second-term\/\">APC chairman<\/a> accused the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of attempting to destabilise the APC. The statement was signed by his media adviser, Kola Olabisi.<\/p>\n<p>The exercise, Famodun said, was a mere distraction ploy by the PDP to disorganise and put the APC in disarray on the grounds that opposition\u2019s handlers were aware of the brighter chance of the APC and its candidate in the ongoing governorship election petition tribunal in Osogbo.<\/p>\n<p>Famodun accused the PDP of instituting the case against the APC candidate, however, appealed to the party members and supporters to remain calm, explaining that the team of the party lawyers would be challenging the decision at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/04\/02\/oyetola-inaugurates-osun-food-support-scheme\/\">Court of Appeal<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>He argued that only the members of the APC who
