President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Wale Oke has advised that competence and not religion or ethnicity should be the main consideration of Nigerians in electing President Muhammadu Buhari\u2019s successor next year.<\/p>\n

Oke while advising Nigerians against selling their future to money-bag politicians said every voter should identify one of the 18 candidates in the presidential race that can take Nigeria to the promised land.<\/p>\n

He warned that\u00a0 \u201cdesperate, oppressive, domineering and divisive politicians<\/a>\u201d\u00a0 are gearing up to \u201ckill and destroy\u201d to gain power against the wish of Nigerians.<\/p>\n

The PFN President said he had personally resolved to cast his vote for either a Christian or Muslim presidential candidate that has the capacity to deliver the nation from its current predicaments.<\/p>\n

Oke added that now was the time for the electorate to demand the candidates\u2019 manifestos to give them insight into the plans they (candidates)<\/a> have for the country and the citizens.<\/p>\n

The cleric spoke at the \u201cFirst Service of the New Ministerial Year\u201d Sword of the Spirit Ministries in Ibadan, Oyo State.<\/p>\n

In Osogbo, Osun State,\u00a0 the leadership of the Ethiopian Church of Christ (African Church Worldwide) which spoke in the same vein as Oke,\u00a0 said its members would not be coerced to vote against any presidential candidate.<\/p>\n

At the Sword of the Spirit Ministries programme, the PFN\u00a0 President said:\u201d If a Muslim can solve Nigeria\u2019s problem, I will vote for him so far he will treat Muslims and Christians<\/a> as equal stakeholders in Nigeria, and he will not favor one religion above another.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor me, if a Hausa man emerges, okay, if it is Fulani man, good, If it is Igbo, Kanuri, Edo, Ibibio, or Yoruba man, okay, provided he stands for justice, equity, fairness, and one Nigeria. He must also be a man that can deal with the problem of Nigeria decisively.<\/p>\n

\u201cVote for whoever has the capacity to turn around Nigeria, use your votes to change the fortune of the nation to give Nigerians the nation we want<\/p>\n

\u201cLet\u2019s decide and go beyond religion sentiment, ethnicity, and party so that Nigeria can get to its destination.<\/p>\n

\u201cNigeria shall be beautiful and great, let us all cooperate with God so that we can get to the promised land..\u201d<\/p>\n

Also yesterday, the\u00a0 Ethiopian Church of Christ (African Church Worldwide)\u00a0\u00a0 said that its members have the political and spiritual independence to make their political choices without bias.<\/p>\n

Its\u00a0 Spiritual Head, Worldwide, Snr Pastor Babatunde Ojubanire, said at a special service to commemorate the the103 anniversary of the church in\u00a0 Ile-Ife,\u00a0 that the founder, Rev. Adeniran Oke,\u00a0\u00a0 believes that spiritual-political independence was needed for the integration of\u00a0 African values and cultures.<\/p>\n

He said:\u00a0 \u201cIn 1993 when Mohsood Abiola contested it was Muslim-Muslim ticket,\u00a0 Christians did not raise any eyebrow but now the country has divided because there is no more freedom. That is why we have a problem with Muslim\/Muslim ticket.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn our part, we are under the Christian Association of Nigeria(CAN).\u00a0 Not only that, we are under the Indigenous Bodies of Nigeria.\u00a0 We will listen to the directive of those two bodies and pass it on to our members.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut even at that, there is political and spiritual freedom for our members to decide who to vote for in 2023. We won\u2019t force anybody because of any sentiment..\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
