{"id":220097,"date":"2022-10-04T13:31:42","date_gmt":"2022-10-04T12:31:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=220097"},"modified":"2022-10-04T13:31:42","modified_gmt":"2022-10-04T12:31:42","slug":"were-not-commencing-lectures-next-week-plateau-varsity-asuu-dissociates-self-from-purported-resumption","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/10\/04\/were-not-commencing-lectures-next-week-plateau-varsity-asuu-dissociates-self-from-purported-resumption\/","title":{"rendered":"We\u2019re not commencing lectures next week \u2013 Plateau varsity ASUU dissociates self from purported resumption"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Plateau State University Bokkos (PLASU) chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has denied rumours that classes will start there on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>According to the union, a strike that had been declared by its national body more than seven months prior is still in effect, and the strike can only be called off at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/04\/28\/osun-announces-new-school-resumption-date-for-third-term\/\">national executive&#8217;s request<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>ASUU, PLASU chapter, disclosed its position on Tuesday while briefing journalists in Jos, the state capital, through its Secretary, Comrade Deme Samson.<\/p>\n<p>He said, \u201cThe Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) Plateau State University wishes to inform the public that there was no Senate meeting that deliberated and approved October 10th, 2022, as the resumption date in preparation for the commencement of lectures.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to the union, \u201cA Senate meeting was held with the approval of the National Executive Council of ASUU on 26th of September, 2022, to agree on a matter that is different from what the management <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/07\/26\/breaking-kaduna-govt-suspends-schools-resumption-indefinitely\/\">decided to broadcast<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe wish to let the public know that academic activities at the Plateau State University will only commence when the National strike of ASUU is suspended or called off.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Plateau State University Bokkos (PLASU) chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has denied rumours that classes will start there on Monday.
