{"id":220307,"date":"2022-10-05T16:24:53","date_gmt":"2022-10-05T15:24:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=220307"},"modified":"2022-10-05T16:34:57","modified_gmt":"2022-10-05T15:34:57","slug":"seven-nigerians-allegedly-arrested-for-cybercrime-in-ghana","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/10\/05\/seven-nigerians-allegedly-arrested-for-cybercrime-in-ghana\/","title":{"rendered":"Seven Nigerians allegedly arrested for cybercrime in Ghana"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Seven Nigerians have been arrested in connection with alleged involvement in activities of cybercrime in Ghana.<\/p>\n<p>Operatives of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) arrested the suspects after acting on intelligence to raid a residence at Manhean, Obeyeyie in the Greater Accra Region on September 26, 2022.<\/p>\n<p>According to Ghanaweb, the anti-crime agency issued a statement on Monday that no fewer than 21 individuals, believed to be victims of trafficking from Nigeria, were also rescued during the raid.<\/p>\n<p>The official statement partially read, \u201cAt the end of the exercise, 28 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/10\/04\/two-nigerians-jailed-for-40-years-for-robbing-mobile-money-vendor-in-ghana\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nigerians<\/a> suspected to be engaged in Prohibited Cyber Activities, were taken into custody.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter our initial screening, 21 of the persons were determined to be victims of Human Trafficking from Nigeria to Ghana.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The seven suspects have since been remanded by an Accra Circuit Court as investigations are ongoing and they are billed to reappear in court on October 17.<\/p>\n<p>The suspects are facing a 24-count charge bordering on human trafficking, assaults and other organised crimes.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Seven Nigerians have been arrested in connection with alleged involvement in activities of cybercrime in Ghana.
