{"id":220556,"date":"2022-10-07T05:16:48","date_gmt":"2022-10-07T04:16:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=220556"},"modified":"2022-10-07T05:16:48","modified_gmt":"2022-10-07T04:16:48","slug":"prayer-consultant-arrested-for-duping-accountant-in-adamawa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/10\/07\/prayer-consultant-arrested-for-duping-accountant-in-adamawa\/","title":{"rendered":"Prayer consultant arrested for duping accountant in Adamawa"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A &#8216;prayer consultant&#8217;, Kefas Brandford, has been arrested for duping an accountant while promising to link him to a native doctor who will make him successful.<\/p>\n<p>Brandford swindled the accountant, Suleiman Ibrahim, of a total of N277,000 in several installments over a period of time before Suleman realised he was being <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/07\/22\/nigerian-man-poses-as-us-based-physiotherapist-on-matrimonial-site-dupes-indian-woman-of-over-n1-6m\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">duped<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Ibrahim, who is an accountant with the Yobe State Ministry of Finance, wanted to gain easy promotion in his place of work and become wealthy.<\/p>\n<p>Brandford, from Ganye Local Government Area of Adamawa State, then promised to link Suleiman Ibrahim with a native doctor based in Ganye.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-220560 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2022\/10\/kunlenet07\/2022\/10\/07\/Kefas-Brandford-.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"762\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2022\/10\/kunlenet07\/2022\/10\/07\/Kefas-Brandford-.jpeg 800w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2022\/10\/kunlenet07\/2022\/10\/07\/Kefas-Brandford--300x286.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2022\/10\/kunlenet07\/2022\/10\/07\/Kefas-Brandford--768x732.jpeg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Eager for success, Ibrahim kept paying money into Brandford\u2019s bank account to buy chickens, rams and other items for sacrifices.<\/p>\n<p>Ibrahim, who had never met Brandford physically, travelled to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/10\/01\/adamawa-man-stabs-rival-to-death-over-fiancee\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Adamawa<\/a> State in August this year and asked Brandford on phone to take him to the native doctor because he could not see any positive change in his life.<\/p>\n<p>Brandford then told Ibrahim that the native doctor had been sent on an errand by the Gangwari Ganye and could not be reached.<\/p>\n<p>Ibrahim, who had lodged at a hotel, mobilised the police in Ganye and apprehended Brandford.<\/p>\n<p>Brandford was arraigned before the Jimeta Area Court in Yola, on charges of cheating and criminal breach of trust.<\/p>\n<p>He pleaded guilty to the charge against him and the court, presided over by Mathias Nuhu, ordered that he be remanded at a correctional centre, and adjourned the case to next week, October 10.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A &#8216;prayer consultant&#8217;, Kefas Brandford, has been arrested for duping an accountant while promising to link him to a native doctor who will make him successful.
