{"id":220857,"date":"2022-10-09T10:33:08","date_gmt":"2022-10-09T09:33:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=220857"},"modified":"2022-10-09T10:33:08","modified_gmt":"2022-10-09T09:33:08","slug":"eight-die-in-plateau-road-accident","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/10\/09\/eight-die-in-plateau-road-accident\/","title":{"rendered":"Eight die in Plateau road accident"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Eight persons have died while two others sustained injuries following an auto crash along Jos-Lamingo road in Plateau State.<\/p>\n<p>According to PUNCH, the state Public Enlightenment Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Peter Longsan, who confirmed the death of the crash victims said crash occurred along Jos-Lamingo road on Saturday afternoon around 3:10 pm.<\/p>\n<p>Longsan said, \u201cThe <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/10\/01\/bauchi-auto-crash-leaves-four-dead-seven-injured\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">crash<\/a> involved two vehicles, a Toyota Hiace bus and a Honda Pilot jeep. Number of people involved was 10, all onboard, out of which eight died (three adult males, four adult females and one child) while two others sustained injuries.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe two injured were taken to the Jos University Teaching Hospital by an FRSC Rescue Team for medical attention, while the remains of the deceased were deposited at the old JUTH.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe unfortunate incident happened as a result of excessive speed by one of the drivers, which led to loss of control and resulted to head-on collusion of the two vehicles.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Public Enlightenment Officer, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/09\/30\/tanker-crashes-frsc-decries-incessant-loss-of-lives\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FRSC<\/a> advised motorists to maintain safe speed, pointing out that excessive speed accounts for most deaths and serious injuries whenever road traffic crash occurs.<\/p>\n<p>He added, \u201cThey are further advised to ensure installation of speed limiting device on their vehicles and ensure proper maintenance of their vehicles.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Eight persons have died while two others sustained injuries following an auto crash along Jos-Lamingo road in Plateau State.
