Ibikunle Amosun, Senator representing Ogun Central, has said he will work against the ruling All Progressive Congress in the state.<\/p>\n

Amosun has said he is supporting the African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate, Biyi Otegbeye, in next year\u2019s election.<\/p>\n

The former Ogun State Governor, however, said he is strongly backing the APC presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to emerge as the next president.<\/p>\n

According to Daily Trust, this confirms earlier report that Amosun<\/a> had unleashed another political son, against Governor Dapo Abiodun who is seeking re-election under the platform of the .<\/p>\n

The report revealed how Amosun had zeroed in on Otegbeye after he fell out with Adekunle Akinlade when he dumped the ruling party for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) where he was offered deputy governorship slot.<\/p>\n

Amosun had backed Akinlade, of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) against Abiodun<\/a> in 2019 but lost to the incumbent.<\/p>\n

In the polls\u2019 result, Abiodun polled 241,670 votes to defeat Akinlade who had 222,153 votes.<\/p>\n

And in the build-up to the 2023 polls, both Otegbeye and Akinlade contested in the APC governorship primary, but lost to Abiodun.<\/p>\n

Insiders also told Daily Trust that Amosun gave Otegbeye a nod to run on the platform of APM, but Akinlade allegedly blocked the move, leaving the former governor\u2019s men to bargain for the ADC\u2019s governorship ticket.<\/p>\n

However, Amosun openly confirmed that he is backing Otegbeye in the next election against Abiodun who is the candidate of APC, the party they both belong to.<\/p>\n

Amosun spoke during an exclusive interview with BBC Yoruba in Abeokuta, Ogun State.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor the presidential poll, I can assure you, both right, left and centre, we are supporting one person (Tinubu). I believe we are supporting one person. On the governorship poll, that\u2019s a different ball game. I don\u2019t belong there.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t hide behind one finger to fight. That\u2019s why people say to me \u2018don\u2019t say that.\u2019 On governorship, my supporters and I, we don\u2019t belong to that side.\u201d<\/p>\n
