{"id":222165,"date":"2022-10-16T09:14:01","date_gmt":"2022-10-16T08:14:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=222165"},"modified":"2022-10-16T09:14:01","modified_gmt":"2022-10-16T08:14:01","slug":"12-enugu-bankers-arrested-for-allegedly-stealing-funds-from-some-dormant-accounts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/10\/16\/12-enugu-bankers-arrested-for-allegedly-stealing-funds-from-some-dormant-accounts\/","title":{"rendered":"12 Enugu bankers arrested for allegedly stealing funds from some dormant accounts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested twelve (12) bankers for suspected insider fraud in Enugu State.<\/p>\n<p>According to a statement released by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/09\/28\/efcc-arrest-brothers-24-others-for-internet-fraud-in-ibadan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EFCC<\/a>, the suspects are, Odeniyi Anthony, Deki Kingsley Onyekachi, Oguchukwu Ene, Elendu Chizaram, Anyakora Uchenna, Onah Kingsley, Akwe Elizabeth and Chinenye Grace Acibe.<\/p>\n<p>Others are Victoria Ezedie, Chidi-Ukah Obinna, Etoh Lawrence Uzochukwu and Udeze Harrison.<\/p>\n<p>The anti-graft agency preliminary investigations showed that the suspects allegedly stole funds from some dormant accounts in a branch of an old-generation bank in Enugu.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The stolen funds were transferred from the dormant accounts to various beneficiaries, with the principal beneficiary already identified by the EFCC,&#8221; the statement read<\/p>\n<p>The EFCC said the suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested twelve (12) bankers for suspected insider fraud in Enugu State.
