Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi, has said the 2023 presidential election would be a tough one, but that the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, would win.<\/p>\n

Fayemi said Tinubu<\/a> will win \u201cby the skin of our teeth\u201d because the electorate would be asked to assess the candidates based of their records.<\/p>\n

The outgoing Ekiti State governor stated this during an interview with Vanguard.<\/p>\n

Responding to APC\u2019s chances given the perceived failure of the Buhari administration in delivery on promises, he said: \u201cOn the impact (of Buhari\u2019s performance) our party, we will have to explain ourselves to the Nigerian people.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe don\u2019t have a choice, it\u2019s a democracy.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ll ask the Nigerian people to look at the leading candidates and assess them based on their track record, character, competence, capacity, commitment and courage to do the right thing on the Nigeria project and then make their choice.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut I am reasonably confident that when you look at all the parameters and when you do your calculations, we\u2019re still going to carry the day, maybe by the skin of our teeth, but we\u2019ll carry the day.\u201d<\/p>\n

Asked what he will be doing after leaving office, Fayemi<\/a> said: \u201cI want to be a house husband (laughs). We are all instruments in the hands of God.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor a start, you know that I belong to a party and my party is in the race for the presidency. I have no choice but to support my party to win that race.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m going to reflect on my experience in the last 12 years, a book, maybe two books will come out of it. I don\u2019t know yet, but maybe a sequel to \u2018Out of the shadows.<\/p>\n
