{"id":222286,"date":"2022-10-17T04:38:49","date_gmt":"2022-10-17T03:38:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=222286"},"modified":"2022-10-17T04:38:49","modified_gmt":"2022-10-17T03:38:49","slug":"lagos-female-driver-kills-pregnant-woman-two-passengers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/10\/17\/lagos-female-driver-kills-pregnant-woman-two-passengers\/","title":{"rendered":"Lagos female driver kills pregnant woman, two passengers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A female driver reportedly crushed three passengers, including a pregnant woman and a girl, to death on Iju-Ishaga Road in the Agege area of Lagos State.<\/p>\n<p>The incident was said to have happened on Saturday around 4pm when the woman\u2019s car hit a tricycle conveying the passengers inward Agege.<\/p>\n<p>It was gathered that while the passengers lost their lives, the tricycle rider sustained injuries and was rushed to a hospital.<\/p>\n<p>An elderly woman was also said to be among the three victims.<\/p>\n<p>According to PUNCH, an eyewitness, Mayokun Oluwadara, said commuters shouted at the motorist to reduce her speed.<\/p>\n<p>He said, \u201cA woman was driving a private car at top speed. People were shouting at her to slow down. The area is usually clumsy with people and traffic. Unfortunately, that road was clear that day and the woman saw it as an opportunity to race through. She hit the tricycle from behind.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Oluwadara said good Samaritans rushed the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/08\/30\/borno-pregnant-woman-dies-3-vehicles-with-passengers-swept-away-by-flood\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pregnant woman<\/a> and the young girl to the hospital, hoping that they could be saved.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople were very particular about the pregnant woman and the small girl because of the pregnancy and the girl\u2019s age. They were evacuated immediately. Some people said the pregnant woman and the girl might still be breathing. But they were dead because some of us saw that they were not moving at all,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>The driver reportedly did not wait, as she sped towards the Agege Under bridge.<\/p>\n<p>Residents were said to have alerted park operators in the area to stop the car and she intercepted at the Agege Under bridge and handed over to the police.<\/p>\n<p>The spokesperson for the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Nosa Okunbor, could not be reached as of the time of filing this report.<\/p>\n<p>The state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed the incident, however, said the police had a record of one passenger, who died on the spot.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A female driver reportedly crushed three passengers, including a pregnant woman and a girl, to death on Iju-Ishaga Road in the Agege area of Lagos State.
