The students who came out in their numbers boycotted the ongoing examinations to protest the introduction of the registration fee, and bad welfare, amongst others.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Recall that the management was under heavy criticism recently after the introduction of a #20,000 registration fee which was non-existent until September. The management however slashed the fees to fifty percent yesterday after a series of engagements with student associations. Students who were not okay with this decision requested a total removal.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Within Nigeria gathered that the protest commenced at 6:00 am at the main gate of the institution. We also gathered that the protest has been peaceful with security agencies present at the scene.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Ogun state PRO, Olufemi Owoeye said the protest would continue until the management accepted their demands.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cStudents are here contrary to the antics of the management, we have a very large number. We are well over 2000 and as a matter of fact, at the peak of the protest, we had over 7000 students who came to demand their rights. In their demands made yesterday through a press statement signed by the association\u2019s chairman, Damilola Kehinde, and PRO, Olufemi Owoeye, the students demanded that management remove the \u2018unlawful and indefensible\u2019 registration fee, reintroduce the 60-40 payment option as promised, fix a date for the next Students Union election, and improve the student\u2019s overall welfare and give room for social activities on campus.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Students of the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY) have staged a peaceful protest against some of the institution&#8217;s policies and fees increment.
