{"id":222416,"date":"2022-10-17T16:49:50","date_gmt":"2022-10-17T15:49:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=222416"},"modified":"2022-10-17T16:49:50","modified_gmt":"2022-10-17T15:49:50","slug":"man-utds-greenwood-denied-bail","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/10\/17\/man-utds-greenwood-denied-bail\/","title":{"rendered":"Man Utd\u2019s Greenwood denied bail"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Mason Greenwood has been remanded in custody after appearing at Manchester Magistrates\u2019 Court charged with attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour and assault.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/10\/15\/epl-man-utd-striker-mason-greenwood-arrested\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Greenwood<\/a> has been ordered to appear in front of Manchester Crown Court, on November 21.<\/p>\n<p>Greenwood looked at his family in the public gallery before being taken down by two dock officers on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>The three charges relate to the same woman.<\/p>\n<p>Greenwood, 21, was detained in January and had been on bail until Saturday, when he allegedly breached his bail conditions and prosecutors decided to charge him.<\/p>\n<p>He confirmed his name, date of birth and address at Monday\u2019s hearing.<\/p>\n<p>The attempted rape is said to have happened in October 2021, the assault in December 2021, and the controlling and coercive behaviour between November 2018 and October this year.<\/p>\n<p>Manchester United suspended Greenwood when the allegations surfaced and he has not played or trained with the club since.<\/p>\n<p>He has scored 35 times for the club and made 129 appearances.<\/p>\n<p>Greenwood was also removed from the popular FIFA 22 video game and Nike terminated his sponsorship deal.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mason Greenwood has been remanded in custody after appearing at Manchester Magistrates\u2019 Court charged with attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour and assault.
