The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), says it will eschew name calling and personality attacks to focus on issue-based campaign.<\/p>\n
Speaking on Monday at a media briefing in Abuja, Rufai Alkali, national chairman of NNPP, said the party would abide by the peace accord signed by all political parties.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe promise to run an issue-based campaign. We are not going to engage in abuse. Our supporters all over the country are under instruction not to engage in negative campaigns or violence,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will adhere strictly to the words and letters of the peace accord signed last month. But we call others not to take us for granted and try to undermine our campaign activities.\u201d<\/p>\n
The NNPP chairman said Rabiu Kwankwaso, the party\u2019s presidential candidate, is the best individual for the position of president.<\/p>\n
\u201cOne incontrovertible fact is that his excellency, senator Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, is the best and the most qualified among those contesting for the number one position in the country,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cHis performance in all the positions he had held is second to none.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe is ready to replicate all the past achievements at the presidency level if elected into office in 2023. Education, health, housing, human capital development \u2014 he had made indelible marks in all these areas and many more. His records speak for him.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is the icon that the NNPP is offering Nigeria.\u201d<\/p>\n
Alkali also asked the feuding members in the south-west to sheath their swords and embrace peace.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe leadership of the party has resolved as follows; that all feuding parties should eschew bitterness and embrace peace for the sake of the greater good of the party,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat the suspension of the executive members has been reversed to status quo ante bellum.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat the national working committee has set up a peace and reconciliation committee to immediately meet with all the aggrieved parties at Lagos to listen to their grievances and amicably resolve the differences.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
