{"id":222625,"date":"2022-10-18T16:22:29","date_gmt":"2022-10-18T15:22:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=222625"},"modified":"2022-10-18T16:50:14","modified_gmt":"2022-10-18T15:50:14","slug":"pdp-drags-kwara-gov-to-court-for-using-forged-ssce-certificate-to-secure-guber-ticket","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/10\/18\/pdp-drags-kwara-gov-to-court-for-using-forged-ssce-certificate-to-secure-guber-ticket\/","title":{"rendered":"PDP Drags Kwara Gov To Court For Allegedly Using Forged SSCE Certificate To Secure Guber Ticket"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq, the governor of Kwara State, has been brought before a Federal High Court in Abuja over allegations that he used a forged West African School Certificate to win the state&#8217;s nomination for the governorship election in 2023.<\/p>\n<p>In a lawsuit brought by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against him, the Federal High Court was urged to bar the governor and the All Progressives Congress (APC) from running in the gubernatorial election of the next year.<\/p>\n<p>The fresh suit marked FHC\/ABJ\/CS\/1324\/22 is filed on PDP\u2019s behalf by a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, Chief Paul Erokoro, and has Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq and the All Progressives Congress (APC) as 1st to 3rd defendants respectively.<\/p>\n<p>The Court was asked to invoke sections 171 and 285 of the 1999 Constitution as well as Section 29 of the Electoral Act to quash the planned participation of the governor in the forthcoming election.<\/p>\n<p>PDP also prayed the court to compel INEC to delist the governor and APC from the list of cleared candidates and parties for the poll.<\/p>\n<p>Specifically, PDP asserted that the WAEC School Certificate submitted by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/07\/28\/kwara-govt-declares-friday-work-free-for-pvc-registration\/\">governor<\/a>, through the APC to aid his educational qualifications as provided in Section 177 of the 1999 Constitution was forged and did not belong to him.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Justice Inyang Edem Ekwo has fixed October 28 for hearing of the suit.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq, the governor of Kwara State, has been brought before a Federal High Court in Abuja over allegations that he used a forged West African School Certificate to win the state&#8217;s nomination for the governorship election in 2023.
