{"id":223833,"date":"2022-10-23T07:29:36","date_gmt":"2022-10-23T06:29:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=223833"},"modified":"2022-10-23T07:29:36","modified_gmt":"2022-10-23T06:29:36","slug":"makinde-reveals-why-hes-completing-alao-akalas-road-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/10\/23\/makinde-reveals-why-hes-completing-alao-akalas-road-project\/","title":{"rendered":"Makinde reveals why he&#8217;s completing Alao-Akala&#8217;s road project"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde has stated that his focus is to move the state from accelerated development to sustainable growth if he is re-elected as governor in 2023.<\/p>\n<p>According to Makinde,\u00a0his government had in the last three years focused on putting in place policies and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/10\/09\/well-conclude-ongoing-priority-projects-mamora\/\">projects<\/a> that had not only helped in repositioning the state but also lifting the people from poverty to prosperity.<\/p>\n<p>This was stated on Saturday by the governor\u00a0while taking members of the Nigerian Guild of Editors round some of the projects undertaken by his administration.<\/p>\n<p>Makinde said he would leave the state in a better shape if re-elected.<\/p>\n<p>He said, \u201cFor us, if it is Oyo State money, we will try to extract value from it. So, I will take you to projects that were started by Governor (Alao) Akala between 2007 and 2011; a 12-km stretch of road linking New Garage to around Apata. It was not touched for eight years when Abiola Ajimobi was governor but we have taken it up.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAbout 10 kilometres of that road have been completed right now and the importance of the road are two; one is that it will be the first circular road, because once you are coming from Lagos and going to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/10\/11\/edwin-clark-to-fg-probe-military-nnpc-officials-over-oil-theft\/\">NNPC<\/a>, you go straight on that road and if you leave the Abeokuta-Ibadan Road, you can make a right turn, you get to Ring Road junction and at the right turn, you get to Challenge.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde has stated that his focus is to move the state from accelerated development to sustainable growth if he is re-elected as governor in 2023.
