{"id":224773,"date":"2022-10-27T14:19:37","date_gmt":"2022-10-27T13:19:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=224773"},"modified":"2022-10-27T14:19:37","modified_gmt":"2022-10-27T13:19:37","slug":"man-docked-for-allegedly-stealing-chemical-products-from-employer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/10\/27\/man-docked-for-allegedly-stealing-chemical-products-from-employer\/","title":{"rendered":"Man docked for allegedly stealing chemical products from employer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Solomon Effiong, 21, was arrested on Thursday in an Ogudu Magistrate Court in Lagos for allegedly stealing chemicals worth N10 million from his employer, Jepho Okeson Enterprises Ltd.<\/p>\n<p>Effiong, who lives in Lagos&#8217; Mile 12 area, is charged with conspiracy and attempted theft.<\/p>\n<p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/07\/23\/lagos-native-doctor-sales-girl-sent-to-prison-over-attempt-to-poison-employer\/\">Prosecution Counsel<\/a>, Insp Donjour Perezi, the defendant committed the crime between 2016 and 2022 at Jepho Okeson Enterprises Ltd. in Ojota, Lagos.<\/p>\n<p>He claimed that the defendant, a company employee, entered the premises and stole several chemical products, including sulphuric acid, menthol crystals, and peppermint oil.<\/p>\n<p>He also mentioned paraffin oil and some empty plastics as chemicals.<\/p>\n<p>He also claimed that on Sept. 13, around 10 p.m., the defendant broke into the company&#8217;s premises and attempted to steal the same products again but was apprehended by a security guard named Abbey.<\/p>\n<p>According to Perezi, the security guard called the complainant, Jephthah Udeozor, on the phone to report the incident.<\/p>\n<p>He claimed the offence violated sections 287(7), 406(2), and 411 of the Lagos State Criminal Law of 2015.<\/p>\n<p>The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.<\/p>\n<p>M.O Tanimola, the Magistrate, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N1 million with two sureties in the same amount.<\/p>\n<p>She stated that one of the surgeries had to be a blood relative.<\/p>\n<p>The case was postponed until November 11 for a hearing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Solomon Effiong, 21, was arrested on Thursday in an Ogudu Magistrate Court in Lagos for allegedly stealing chemicals worth N10 million from his employer, Jepho Okeson Enterprises Ltd.
