{"id":224928,"date":"2022-10-28T07:34:46","date_gmt":"2022-10-28T06:34:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=224928"},"modified":"2022-10-28T07:34:46","modified_gmt":"2022-10-28T06:34:46","slug":"elon-musk-explains-why-he-acquired-twitter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/10\/28\/elon-musk-explains-why-he-acquired-twitter\/","title":{"rendered":"Elon Musk explains why he acquired Twitter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The billionaire founder of Tesla Inc, Elon Musk has revealed why he acquired Twitter.<\/p>\n<p>This was disclosed on Thursday by the Tesla CEO via a post on his official Twitter handle.<\/p>\n<p>The billionaire had earlier agreed to buy the micro-blogging platform for the initial offer price of $44 billion.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"acssf62a8\">The development came months after filling<\/span><span class=\"acssf62a8\"> a notice with the US Securities and Exchange Commission to terminate the Twitter acquisition over bots and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/04\/22\/elon-musk-vows-to-delete-fake-accounts-or-die-trying-if-his-46-5-billion-bid-to-take-over-twitter-succeeds\/\">fake accounts<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>In his Twitter post, Musk said there is a need to clarify his agenda as there has been much speculation on why he bought the company.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"acssf62a8\">\u201cThe reason I acquired Twitter is that it is important to the future of civilization to have a common digital town square, where a wide range of beliefs can be debated in a healthy manner, without resorting to violence. There is currently great danger that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/07\/06\/sofiat-suspected-ritual-killers-still-in-custody-not-dead-ogun-correctional-centre\/\">social media<\/a> will splinter into far right wing and far left-wing echo chambers that generate more hate and divide our society,\u201d he tweeted.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"acssf62a8\">\u201cIn the relentless pursuit of clicks, much of traditional media has fueled and catered to those polarized extremes, as they believe that is what brings in the money, but, in doing so, the opportunity for dialogue is lost.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI also very much believe that advertising, when done right, can delight, entertain and inform you; it can show you a service or product or medical treatment that you never knew existed, but is right for you. For this to be true, it is essential to show Twitter users advertising that is as relevant as possible to their needs. Low relevancy ads are spam, but highly relevant ads are actually content.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFundamentally, Twitter aspires to be the most respected advertising platform in the world that strengthens your brand and grows your enterprise. To everyone who has partnered with us, I thank you.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet us build something extraordinary together. That is why I bought Twitter. I didn\u2019t do it because it would be easy. I didn\u2019t do it to make more money. I did it to try to help humanity, whom I love.
