{"id":225254,"date":"2022-10-29T13:01:44","date_gmt":"2022-10-29T12:01:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=225254"},"modified":"2022-10-29T13:01:44","modified_gmt":"2022-10-29T12:01:44","slug":"2023-presidency-survey-reveals-tinubull-emerge-winner-but","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/10\/29\/2023-presidency-survey-reveals-tinubull-emerge-winner-but\/","title":{"rendered":"2023 Presidency: Survey reveals Tinubu\u2019ll emerge winner but\u2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has been revealed to emerge winner of the 2023 presidential election.<\/p>\n<p>This is according to a survey conducted by Fitch Solutions Country Risk and Industry Research, which also stated that Tinubu\u2019s victory would trigger social instability and protests because of his party\u2019s Muslim-Muslim ticket.<\/p>\n<p>According to the report, the firm, a subsidiary of Fitch Ratings, an international credit rating organisation, stated that, \u201cWe maintain our view that the ruling party\u2019s Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the candidate most likely to win the presidential election as a split opposition vote will favour the APC.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cProtests and social discontent are likely to ramp up in the aftermath of a Tinubu win since this would end the recent trend of the presidency alternating between Muslims and Christians.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSince Nigeria\u2019s return to democracy in 1999, there has been an informal agreement that resulted in the presidency alternating between northern and southern states, as well as between Christians and Muslims.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA win for Tinubu would break with this unwritten tradition and likely fuel sentiment of perceived marginalisation among Christians.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The firm stated that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/10\/26\/2023-presidency-it-will-take-miracle-for-peter-obi-to-win-mamora\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Peter Obi<\/a>, presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), would not win despite some polls forecasting that he would emerge president.<\/p>\n<p>While referring to a 2020 World Bank report, Fitch said only 36 per cent of Nigerians use the internet where there is huge traction to Obi.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSurveys showing that Obi is ahead of his opponents, Bola <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/10\/26\/2023-presidency-tinubu-blasts-obaseki-for-saying-nigeria-will-break-up-if-apc-wins\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tinubu<\/a> (APC) and Atiku Abubakar (PDP), were mostly based on responses gathered online,\u201d it reads.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSince only 36.0% of Nigerians use the Internet (World Bank, 2020), we believe that these results are skewed towards urban, affluent voters who are most likely to support Obi.
