governor<\/a> stated this during the inauguration of 319 ward and 32 constituency liaison officers in Government House, Port Harcourt on Monday.<\/p>\nAccording to Wike, the Rivers PDP governorship candidate, all the House of Representatives, Senate and House of Assembly candidates would win in the 2023 general elections.<\/p>\n
\u201cPDP will win our State. I am not hiding it as far as the governorship, House of Reps, Senate and State Assembly are concerned. The other one we have not decided until the right thing is done,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Recall that Wike earlier described the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Iyorchia Ayu as ungrateful over his comments against the Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State during a press briefing at his private residence in Rumiprikon, Obio\/Akpor Local Government Area on Sunday.<\/p>\n
The Rivers governor also described as unfortunate Ayu\u2019s comment claiming that he has the power to stop Ortom\u2019s senatorial ambition and those of others eyeing various positions on the platform of the party.<\/p>\n
According to Wike, it was unfortunate for Ayu to speak against Ortom who helped him to become the party\u2019s chairman because the governor told him what he was not doing right.<\/p>\n
Reacting to Ayu\u2019s comment on sacking, Wike said the issue was not about anyone sacking Ayu but honouring his promise if he has any integrity left in him.<\/p>\n
He said, \u201cIt is most unfortunate. Nobody has said Ayu should be sacked. The word sacking and keeping to your promise are two different things,\u201d the governor said.<\/p>\n
The Rivers state governor said his camp\u2019s position remained that since the party\u2019s constitution said there must be zoning for elective and political offices, adding that there is no way the presidential candidate and the party\u2019s national chairman will come from one zone.<\/p>\n
Wike added, \u201cSaying that nobody can sack him does not arise because nobody has said he must be sacked. For you to be sacked, there are procedures for sacking people.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf at this point, you are a national chairman of a party who has told Nigerians that this is what you will do if this happens and now that it has happened, you are running away from doing that. How do you expect Nigerians to now believe you? How do you convince them to vote for your party when they know you won\u2019t keep to integrity?<\/p>\n
\u201cI heard when he said he would have stopped Ortom from running. You see how ungrateful human beings are.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis was the same Governor Ortom who pleaded with us, and said listen, \u2018I can take this risk and let him (Ayu) become the national chairman.\u2019 The governors agreed that no national chairman should come from where a governor comes from.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe agreed on that. But Ortom came, and he is a man we respect, he said I want to promote my people. Let them be at the national politics and we said okay, in your honour we will agree.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is a man (Ayu) who never campaigned anywhere. This is a man who never bought a form or a poster. Even the money they gave him to print posters, he never printed any posters.
