{"id":226413,"date":"2022-11-03T05:32:01","date_gmt":"2022-11-03T04:32:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=226413"},"modified":"2022-11-03T05:32:01","modified_gmt":"2022-11-03T04:32:01","slug":"2023-election-why-i-relocated-to-abuja-from-lagos-tinubu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/11\/03\/2023-election-why-i-relocated-to-abuja-from-lagos-tinubu\/","title":{"rendered":"2023 Election: Why I relocated to Abuja from Lagos \u2013 Tinubu"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, has disclosed why he left Lagos State for Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, in his bid to actualise his ambition to lead the country. <\/p>\n<p>Tinubu said he had to relocate to Abuja to confront many doubts and uncertainties on his mind.<\/p>\n<p>Tinubu made the disclosure while speaking during a consultative caucus meeting tagged \u201cFamily Affair\u201d at Lagos APC secretariat on Acme Road in Ogba, his political base.<\/p>\n<p>Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, led all members of State Executive Council SEC, to the meeting presided over by the APC state chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/11\/03\/your-votes-for-tinubu-should-exceed-kanos-ganduje-tells-hausas-in-lagos\/\">Tinubu<\/a> told the gathering that he returned to his political base to meet Lagos APC family stronger than he left it.<\/p>\n<p>He said those entrusted with the administration of the party affairs after he stepped aside on his supervisory duty had not made him regret his decision to pursue his presidential ambition.<\/p>\n<p>Also, the APC presidential candidate passed a vote of confidence on Sanwo-Olu and other party leaders for nurturing the APC political machinery in the state, stressing that the party remained unbeatable in Lagos.<\/p>\n<p>According to Tinubu, \u201cI left Lagos for Abuja, leaving the party members with Sanwo-Olu, Hamzat, leaders of Governor\u2019s Advisory Council and other party leaders.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey are the ones who released me to go to Abuja to contest.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI left with many doubts and I was uncertain about what would be the fate of the party. I was constantly in touch with the Governor and his deputy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSometimes, I would call the party chairman and ask them if we were doing the right thing in Lagos.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe reports they always gave me gave me more courage and confidence to move on with my engagements in Abuja.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI thank all of our leaders for keeping the party stronger.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI handed over to you an undefeated platform in Lagos.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe manner with which the party affairs have been conducted showed these people have fairly managed the home base.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Tinubu recalled that his journey to secure the party\u2019s presidential nomination in Abuja was littered with uncertainties, but said the support raised from Lagos APC leadership boosted his confidence to move on and win the primaries.<\/p>\n<p>The party\u2019s National Leader said he was in the presidential race to win, but said his fate was in the hands of the party members whom, he said, must work hard to get votes for the party at the polls.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, has disclosed why he left Lagos State for Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, in his bid to actualise his ambition to lead the country.
