{"id":22656,"date":"2021-04-17T13:30:03","date_gmt":"2021-04-17T12:30:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=22656"},"modified":"2021-04-17T13:30:03","modified_gmt":"2021-04-17T12:30:03","slug":"dpr-to-neiti-we-have-accurate-record-of-crude-production","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/04\/17\/dpr-to-neiti-we-have-accurate-record-of-crude-production\/","title":{"rendered":"DPR to NEITI: We have accurate record of crude production"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) has stated that it has a record of the exact quantity of crude oil produced in the country.<\/p>\n<p>Recall that the executive secretary of the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI), Ogbonnaya Orji had stated that <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/04\/16\/neiti-boss-we-dont-know-exact-quantity-of-crude-oil-nigeria-produces\/\">the exact quantity of crude oil produced in the country is unknown due to the absence of meters at wellheads <\/a><\/strong>and the lack of capacity to monitor deep ofhore fields.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe do not have the capacity to go deep shores to know how much we are producing. As we speak, it is very difficult for any Nigerian to ascertain how much actually we are producing,\u201d he had said.<\/p>\n<p>Reacting to the comments made by the NEITI executive secretary, the DPR head of public affairs, Paul Osu via a statement made available to NAN said\u00a0every litre of crude produced in Nigeria was adequately captured during the process of extraction.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>According to Osu, it was the responsibility of the DPR to monitor and account for crude oil production as basis for determining government\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/03\/31\/gov-ayade-suspends-internal-revenue-service-chairman\/\">revenue<\/a> through royalty payments by operators for sustainable development.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a further step to boosting crude accounting process from production to export, DPR recently launched the National Production Monitoring System (NPMS),\u201d NAN quoted Osu to have said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNPMS is an online platform for direct and independent acquisition of production data from oil and gas facilities in Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNPMS as an electronic data transmission tool at production and export terminals is designed to better predict the performance of oil and gas reservoirs and better production forecasting.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He explained that the NPMS tool enables the petroleum regulatory agency to exercise surveillance, perform production monitoring and data analysis for utilisation and forecasting.<\/p>\n<p>Osu said DPR would continue to develop robust and strategic initiatives to ensure timely and accurate payment of rents, royalties and other revenues due to the government.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) has stated that it has a record of the exact quantity of crude oil produced in the country.
