The Labour Party says it has not ruled out the possibility of forging an alliance with the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People\u2019s Party (NNPP) Rabiu Kwankwaso and others. <\/p>\n

Recall that, earlier in the year, there were reports that Kwankwaso and the presidential candidate of the Labour, Party Peter Obi<\/a> were in talks for a possible alliance. The move, did not, however, materialise.<\/p>\n

However, the Director General of the Labour Party (LP) Presidential Campaign Council Doyin Okupe, said despite what transpired last time out, the LP has not given up on an alliance with Kwankwaso and other parties.<\/p>\n

Okupe, who spoke on Channels Television\u2019s Hard Copy, a prerecorded show aired on Friday, however, expressed optimism that the party’s efforts will bear fruits before the end of December. <\/p>\n

\u201cAs a party, at our own campaign level, we are talking to SDP; we are talking to even Kwankwaso and his team again. We are talking to PRP and ADC,\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI believe and I trust that God will help us that between now and December, we would bring together that alignment politically in the country and the country would be better for it.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to him, the move is to ensure that \u201cwhoever wins is not just winning on a sole effort; we are winning with the cooperation of many of as many groups as possible\u201d.<\/p>\n

He also dismissed criticisms over Obi\u2019s visits to some power brokers in the country, saying it was meant solely for \u201ccarrying everybody along\u201d in the scheme of things.<\/p>\n

\u201cSomebody won an election in this country, he did not rule. He was loved by Nigerians but some stakeholders stopped that. We have to avoid that by carrying everybody along, \u201cOkupe added.<\/p>\n

\u201cEven if they don\u2019t agree with us initially, let them not oppose us; let them not see us as enemies. We are not enemies of anybody, a group, or any part of the country.
