The President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, has said the Federal Government did not think deeply before expunging history studies from primary and secondary schools\u2019 curriculum from the 2009\/2010 academic session. <\/p>\n

Lawan<\/a> made the assertion in Abuja during the public presentation of the book titled, \u201cFoundation of Nigeria\u2019s Unity,\u201d written by the Cross River State Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate, Senator Sandy Onor.<\/p>\n

He said, \u201cWe were misguided some years ago that history should be removed in our schools, and I wonder what we intended to achieve then\u2026thank God we saw the fallacy in that decision and it was reversed.<\/p>\n

\u201cTherefore, I feel we are challenged. This book is telling us that we have to go back to our roots. The rest of us as leaders are supposed to work assiduously and make Nigeria a country where we want to be,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Although Lawan commended the government\u2019s decision to restore the subject to the teaching curriculum in 2018 after several criticisms, Lawan said it was not a right decision<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
