Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, has stated that he has never been summoned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to answer corruption allegations.<\/p>\n

Obi made the remarks on Sunday in Abuja at a Town Hall meeting for presidential candidates organized by Arise Television in collaboration with the Center for Democracy and Development (CDD).<\/p>\n

Since leaving office as Governor of Anambra State, the LP Presidential candidate claims the country’s anti-corruption agencies have never questioned him about any missing money.<\/p>\n

Obi<\/a> claims that as governor of South East state, he never borrowed from any financial institution in the country and owed no pension, gratuity, or salary.<\/p>\n

Obi claimed that he left the state more than $50 million in Access, Diamond, and Fidelity banks and that he received numerous awards for his performance in office.<\/p>\n

He said;<\/strong><\/p>\n

In a country where those in government are richer than entrepreneurs, they manufacture poverty.<\/em><\/p>\n

During my time as a former governor, I served for eight eights. You can go to that state you will find that I never borrowed from any financial institution in Nigeria. I have never been invited or questioned about any missing money anywhere.<\/em><\/p>\n

The day I left the office, I wasn\u2019t owing any contractor or supplier that has delivered his project, I was not owing pension, gratuity, salary. I left in three banks; Access, Diamond, and Fidelity, over $50 million each for the state.<\/em><\/p>\n

I have never borrowed, I served faithfully and I left their money. <\/em>The system can work if we do the right thing.<\/em><\/p>\n

Saving money in addition to excellent performance, I won the award for best road network by the Federal Government. I also won an award from Bill Gates Foundation for best in education and health.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
