43-year old man, Ekene Ekwenuya, has been killed and buried in shallow grave by suspected assassins in Ogwashi-Ukwu, Aniocha South LGA of Delta State.<\/p>\n

The state police spokesperson, DSP Bright Edafe, told newsmen in Asaba that one of the suspects involved in the gruesome killing is currently in police custody.<\/p>\n

Edafe said, \u201cThe police got information that the victim was killed with cutlass. They cut him in the head, which led to his death.<\/p>\n

\u201cHowever, last Saturday, the police apprehended one of the suspects and he is currently helping with the investigation.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to Vanguard, community sources said that the victim was ambushed on Tuesday, when he went to his building site along Ubulu-Unor road, Ogwashi-Uku.<\/p>\n

A young man in the community, who gave his name simply as Chukwudi, disclosed that the killers overpowered Ekene, dealt him several machete cuts on his head and dug a shallow grave<\/a> in which they buried him.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis incident happened over six days now. Ekene went to his building site with his motorbike last Tuesday and never returned home.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe family and friends have searched everywhere for him but to no avail, a situation that made them to make a formal report to police.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut last Saturday morning, some friends of the victim in the community spotted a youth from the community riding Ekene\u2019s motorbike and confronted him over the whereabouts of Ekene.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen the suspect could not give a definite answer, they held him, beat him up and called in the community vigilantes who subsequently handed the suspect to the police,\u201d Chukwudi said.<\/p>\n
