{"id":228063,"date":"2022-11-10T04:44:10","date_gmt":"2022-11-10T03:44:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=228063"},"modified":"2022-11-10T04:44:10","modified_gmt":"2022-11-10T03:44:10","slug":"why-tinubu-is-not-indicted-in-trending-us-case-keyamo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/11\/10\/why-tinubu-is-not-indicted-in-trending-us-case-keyamo\/","title":{"rendered":"Why Tinubu is not indicted in trending US case \u2013 Keyamo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Spokesperson of Tinubu\/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council, Festus Keyamo, has said the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, was not indicted in the trending United States case.<\/p>\n<p>Keyamo stated this during an interview with Channels\u2019 Politics Today, on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>WITHIN NIGERIA had reported that the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois released fresh 56-page documents detailing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/11\/09\/u-s-court-releases-certified-copies-of-tinubus-drug-dealing-money-laundering-case\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tinubu\u2019s encounter with American authorities over alleged drug trafficking and money laundering<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The APC campaign spokesperson said the statement by Tinubu&#8217;s critics from Labour Party went of the rail by saying the APC presidential candidate was indicted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere cannot be an indictment if Asiwaju is not a defender or was not a defendant to that case.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI repeat it for the umpteenth time, I don\u2019t want to sound like a broken record here. Asiwaju was not a party to that case.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was just an account that was sued not him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was an account in his name that was sued, so how could you indict him if there was no account?\u201d he wondered.<\/p>\n<p>When asked how many accounts were involved, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/11\/07\/2023-tinubu-may-not-attend-any-presidential-debate-keyamo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Keyamo<\/a> simply said 10 in three banks.<\/p>\n<p>He stated further: \u201cNot in one person\u2019s name. There were ones linked to his mother.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe took responsibility for all of them because they were all Tinubu family.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHis mother was there, his company was there, his brother was there.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt the end of the day, they now pleaded with him that \u2018please don\u2019t come against us if it was found that we wrongly seized your accounts in the first place\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Keyamo challenged the public to look that Paragraph 6: Page 2 of the settlement signed by the lawyers.<\/p>\n<p>He stressed that the lawyers were appealing to Tinubu not to come against them on the case.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was him (Tinubu) giving them indemnity. It was not the other way round by them telling him go and sin no more.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe (Tinubu) was the one telling them go and sin no more.
