{"id":228090,"date":"2022-11-10T06:10:15","date_gmt":"2022-11-10T05:10:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=228090"},"modified":"2022-11-10T06:10:15","modified_gmt":"2022-11-10T05:10:15","slug":"oluwo-of-iwo-elebuibon-disagree-over-idol-worship","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/11\/10\/oluwo-of-iwo-elebuibon-disagree-over-idol-worship\/","title":{"rendered":"Oluwo of Iwo, Elebuibon disagree over idol worship"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi, the Oluwo of Iwo has called on Yoruba monarchs to accept his stance against idol worship and submit to only\u00a0God Almighty in running their domains.<\/p>\n<p>This was made known on Wednesday by the traditional ruler in Iwo at the annual Olodumare Day celebration, where several musical groups and individuals sang praises to God.<\/p>\n<p>The monarch maintained that any king who is fetishistic is not representing God and urged those among them who wanted to engage in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/10\/12\/oluwo-of-iwo-condemns-idol-worshipping-ascribes-kingship-to-god\/\">idolatry<\/a> to abdicate the throne and become traditionalists.<\/p>\n<p>He said, \u201cOther Yoruba kings must come in tandem with this because they can\u2019t be God\u2019s representatives and still worship other gods.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGod is the real king, and the earthly king who is now fetish is not representing God well. Any king who worships other gods or is a fetishist should abdicate the throne and become an herbalist. There is no deity that is called Kabiyesi.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The monarch while speaking about the next <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/11\/07\/general-elections-2023-igp-orders-distribution-of-additional-anti-riot-equipment-uniforms\/\">general elections<\/a> said\u00a0issues regarding the next poll should be laid before God, urged Nigerians to be patient.<\/p>\n<p>Reacting to the development, renowned\u00a0Osogbo-based Ifa priest, the Araba Awo of Osogbo, Ifayemi Elebuibon said the monarch was wrongly interpreting Yoruba monarchy.<\/p>\n<p>He said, \u201cOdu Ifa established Iwo town, not a Qu\u2019ran. At best, Oluwo can go to Saudi Arabia and be king there and not in Yorubaland.
