The Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency (KADSEMA) says ninety people lost their lives in fire outbreaks between January and September 2022.<\/p>\n
76 people were also injured in the 436 fire incidents recorded in the state during the period under review. <\/p>\n
NEMA\u2019s North West Zonal Coordinator, Mr Imam Garki, made this known during a sensitisation exercise for the residents of the state on fire prevention measures. <\/p>\n
He said the exercise was aimed at strengthening preparedness, prevention and timely response in addressing fire outbreaks.<\/p>\n
He said, \u201cNEMA, as the lead disaster and emergency agency, is taking the lead to sensitise state governments, federal and state agencies and organisations, as well as individuals, to do the needful on time.\u201d<\/p>\n
Garki, therefore, called on residents to imbibe the culture of safety as most fire incidents were human-induced.<\/p>\n
He added that the sensitisation was part of a three-day stakeholders\u2019 workshop in collaboration with Christian Aid\/COOPI and the Federal Fire Service (FFS).<\/p>\n
