One Sani Ali, a \u2018suya\u201d seller, has been sentenced to 30 days imprisonment for attempted car theft.<\/p>\n

Ali, 50, was sentenced by panel of judges at an Area Court in Jos<\/a> on Friday. <\/p>\n

The panel of judges made up of Malam Sadqi Adam and Hyacenth Dolnanan, sentenced the convict after he pleaded guilty to theft and begged the court for clemency.<\/p>\n

The judges, however, gave the convict an option of N 10,000 fine.<\/p>\n

Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Insp Monday Dabit, told the court that the case was reported at the \u2018A\u2019 Division Police station on Oct.21, by Mr Audu Julius.<\/p>\n

He said that the convict forcefully opened the complainant\u2019s car door and attempted to drive off with the car.<\/p>\n

The prosecutor further told the court that during police investigation Ali confessed to the crime of attempted car theft.<\/p>\n

The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of sections 333 and 57 of the penal code Plateau State Penal Code law of Northern Nigeria. (NAN)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
