{"id":229072,"date":"2022-11-17T12:58:20","date_gmt":"2022-11-17T11:58:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=229072"},"modified":"2022-11-17T12:58:20","modified_gmt":"2022-11-17T11:58:20","slug":"sokoto-board-director-sentenced-to-7-years-imprisonment-over-n1-32m-job-scam","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/11\/17\/sokoto-board-director-sentenced-to-7-years-imprisonment-over-n1-32m-job-scam\/","title":{"rendered":"Sokoto Board Director sentenced to 7 years imprisonment over N1.32m job scam"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Director with the Commodity Board in Sokoto State, Hassan Bello, has been sentenced to seven years imprisonment over N1.32 million job scam.<\/p>\n<p>Bello collected the sum of N1.32 million from Aliyu Adamu-Tsaki, Yusuf Abubakar, Yahaya Salihu and 43 others under the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/04\/01\/court-remands-fake-soldier-for-duping-issuing-fake-letters-of-appointment-to-job-seekers-in-osun\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pretence of securing jobs<\/a> for them with the board.<\/p>\n<p>The victims were said to have reported the matter to the Economic and financial crime commission when they realised they had been scammed by the convict.<\/p>\n<p>The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, later took up the matter and it came up for hearing at a Federal High Court in Sokoto on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Judge Ahmad Mahmud sentenced the Director but gave him an option of N100,000 fine, following the guilty plea entered by the convict during the hearing.<\/p>\n<p>The judge also directed him to pay restitution of N850,000 to the victims through the EFCC, adding that the court should be notified of the payment.<\/p>\n<p>The court added that failure to pay the restitution within six months would earn him two years imprisonment.<\/p>\n<p>The judge however directed the convict to enter into an undertaking to be of good behaviour.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Director with the Commodity Board in Sokoto State, Hassan Bello, has been sentenced to seven years imprisonment over N1.32 million job scam.
