{"id":231030,"date":"2022-11-26T05:53:37","date_gmt":"2022-11-26T04:53:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=231030"},"modified":"2022-11-26T05:53:37","modified_gmt":"2022-11-26T04:53:37","slug":"lagos-govt-to-spend-2-5bn-on-4th-mainland-bridge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2022\/11\/26\/lagos-govt-to-spend-2-5bn-on-4th-mainland-bridge\/","title":{"rendered":"Lagos govt to spend $2.5bn on 4th mainland bridge"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The proposed 4th Main\u00adland Bridge will gulp $2.5 billion, Lagos State Government has disclosed. <\/p>\n<p>Ope George, the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Gov\u00adernment on Public Private Part\u00adnerships (PPP) made the disclosure on Friday during an interaction with journalists in Lagos.<\/p>\n<p>He also said that the preferred bidder among the three shortlisted com\u00adpanies would be announced be\u00adfore the end of 2022.<\/p>\n<p>According to George, the project is being conceived as a PPP transport infrastructure de\u00advelopment, which includes the construction and operation of a Greenfield tolled road and bridge with a design speed of 120km\/h, including the development of ad\u00adjacent real estates.<\/p>\n<p>George stated that, on completion, the bridge would be\u00adcome the second longest in Africa, featuring three toll plazas, nine in\u00adterchanges, a 4.5km lagoon bridge and an eco-friendly environment.<\/p>\n<p>The longest bridge in Africa at the moment is the 6th October Bridge in Cairo, Egypt, which was inaugurated in 1996. The bridge is built along the River Nile, measur\u00ading 20.5 kilometers long.<\/p>\n<p>The 4th Mainland Bridge, George explained is expected to span about 37 kilometers, start\u00ading from Abraham Adesanya in Ajah, on the Eti-Osa-Lekki-Epe corridor and transverse from the Northwest towards the lagoon shoreline of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway via Owutu\/Isawo in Ikorodu.<\/p>\n<p>He added: \u201cThe idea of con\u00adstructing the 4th Mainland Bridge is aimed at reducing severe con\u00adgestion on the existing 3rd Main\u00adland Bridge; whilst opening new areas for future development.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The government also said that the process had gone through the competitive bidding process; the Request for Proposal Stage 1 (RFP 1) and the RFP 2.<\/p>\n<p>It also said the RFP Stage 2 has been issued to three shortlisted bidders, Mota \u2013 Engil (Nig &amp; Afri\u00adca) CCCC &amp; CRBC consort, CGGC \u2013 CGC Joint Venture and CCECC &amp; CRCCIG Consortium.<\/p>\n<p>He emphasised that the evalua\u00adtion committee, which comprises of representatives from the Minis\u00adtry of works, Office of Public Pri\u00advate Partnerships and the project Advisers commenced the evalua\u00adtion of the submitted RFP Stage 2 documents on November 17, 2022, assuring that the preferred bidder would be announced before the end of this year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The proposed 4th Main\u00adland Bridge will gulp $2.5 billion, Lagos State Government has disclosed.
